BC Government goes after illicit providers

The Government of British Columbia has taken action against illicit retailers operating online.

The internet is the new wild west for weed and the Marshalls (government & enforcement) have started to take it back. Ten people and three companies have been named in a British Columbia lawsuit. The defendants are alleged to have laundered millions of dollars from illicit cannabis sales through legitimate businesses.

You may be familiar with the idea of online cannabis orders. What you may not know is that many of these online websites are selling illicit cannabis – produced by unlicensed personnel at unlicensed facilities, providing untested cannabis to anyone with (and sometimes without) a driver’s license.

We want you to be aware of the risks, and make informed purchase decisions. When shopping online, be wary of companies asking for copies of your license to be emailed to them, and only accepting e-transfer payments. Typically these companies are illicit and their cannabis is untested.

When in doubt, ask for their license information, or stick to a local dispensary.
